INTRODUCTION

 

Golden Ages of Physics, i.e. when Physics and Geometry are In-Sync 

 

Time and again, physics simplified dramatically after a change of geometric concept.  The earth-centered Ptolemy model changed from complex and mysterious to simple and obvious when the center was shifted to the sun.  Newtonian mechanics followed.  By the end of 19th century geometry was “out-of-sync” again with the then relevant physics, electromagnetism (EM).  Lorentz and Einstein brought them back in-sync (as shown in the elegant expression of EM in Lorentz spacetime) and physics flourished in the first half of 20th century, as culminated by the super accurate verification of quantum electrodynamics (QED). 

 

Note that golden ages of physics are always when physics and geometry are in-sync and that the “right” (i.e. the elegant and obvious) physics cannot emerge before “right” geometry is uncovered.  Notice how important Newton considered it when he put on the 1st page of Principia, “The description of right lines and circles, upon which geometry is founded, belongs to mechanics.  Geometry does not teach us to draw these lines, but requires them to be drawn.”  Nevertheless, at least at 3 critical instances, geometry is not defined by relevant physics of today but is set absolutely through assumptions.  These could be the cause of mysteries and complexities in today’s particle and gravitation physics.  The assumptions are:  1. that of inertial frames in special relativity, 2. that of consistent proper time across a manifold in general relativity, and 3. that of the existence of plane angle scales without being defined by any physics activity. 

 

Articles

The following articles investigate (thus generalize) these assumptions and may shine some light on constructing the spacetime geometry in-sync with the anticipated Unified Field Theory.  Obviously, its purpose is neither to criticize nor to disprove Lorentz spacetime (or general relativity which is Lorentz spacetime oriented) as they are experimentally verified, but to uncover the more general spacetime beyond what is assumed.  Since these assumptions were chosen with only electromagnetism (EM) in mind, exploring beyond them may very well uncover the geometric aspects associated with the non-electromagnetic parts of the unified field theory. 

 

1. Spacetime and Gravitation Based on Logic INSTEAD OF Einstein Assumptions investigates the first two assumptions and may lead to beautiful gravitation and Weak interactions. 

 

2. String Behavior From Inherent Solid Angle Rotation Imbedded in Lorentz/4+1 Spacetime at Electroweak Scale investigates the third assumption and may lead to beautiful Weak and Strong forces. 

 

Nothing presented in these articles are speculations created by mind.  The solid angle and higher rotations uncovered in the second article simply reveal what should always exist in a spacetime in equal status as plane angle rotation, but are so far overlooked.  In fact, explanation is required if it is not observed in Nature.  The 4+1 spacetime uncovered in the first article simply recover what the identity (E)2 – (p1)2 - (p2)2 - (p3)2  - m2  = 0 should naturally lead to when no assumption is prejudicedly imposed.  It is the primordial of spacetime, whereas Lorentz spacetime is only an assumption-based subjective spacetime. 

 

It is believed that each new dimension, or aspect, uncovered may be associated with (and can be defined logically by) one of the non-EM forces.  When these assumptions are replaced by the logical definitions, both the simple and obvious Unified Field Theory and its in-sync Unified Spacetime Geometry should emerge simultaneously.
